How
Access to the DEA-First Aid takes place through the intervention of the territorial emergency services (medical guard), but also with the direct access of the citizens (by ambulance or by their own means).
Urgent hospitalization is arranged by the doctor on duty at the emergency room, which receives the patient. First aid services are not carried out by “arrival order” but by implementing a priority selection based on the severity of the clinical situation, assessed by the nursing staff specializing in first aid.
While for emergency or urgent situations immediate intervention is always guaranteed, for other types of services the intervention time is conditioned by the needs related to the type and severity of the clinical situation presented, therefore it may happen that users with minor problems, they have to wait for long times; however, a preliminary observation for the evaluation of gravity is always guaranteed. At the time of acceptance, the patient is assigned a color code according to the severity:
- Red code: top priority, immediate access to care
- Yellow code: High priority
- Green code: low priority: wait
- White code: non-urgent patient: long wait

In these situations, the patient can be kept in brief observation at the temporary hospitalization integrated into the Emergency Room, for tests, treatments, and monitoring for a maximum time of 24 hours, at the end of which the doctor can propose hospitalization or discharge.
